Girard-Dinelle Double Barns

Before Mr. Girard acquired the farm in 2008, it belonged to the Baril family. The couple behind the construction of this farm was François Baril and Lumina Boucher, both originally from St-Paulin and who came to settle in Lorrainville in 1910. Their son Raoul Baril took over the farm after Mr. Baril’s passing. In 1938, he married Lucienne Frappier, who moved with him to the farm, where the family expanded considerably with the birth of eight children.

The eldest of the family is named Marcel, born in 1939. In his early twenties, Marcel became an orphan and took over the reins of the farm, while also taking care of his brothers and sisters. A few years later, in 1967, he married Antoinette Bernard, who became his partner in maintaining the farm. They, too, had five children and worked on the farm until 1995 when they decided to retire.

In 2008, Luc Girard purchased the farm. He kept a few animals for his own pleasure for a few years, but since 2013, the barns have been used for the storage of various items. Mr. Girard has not made any alterations to the buildings.
